Wind4shipping at the NWE Annual Event

Cooperating for lasting Impact at sea

Wind4Shipping (W4S) was proud to be present at the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) Annual Event, held at the European Convention Center in Luxembourg.

During the event, we had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of partners, exchange insights with other innovative projects, and share the story behind Wind4Shipping. Our presence also included showcasing our project poster, highlighting how wind-assisted propulsion can accelerate the transition towards greener shipping.

W4S was represented by Antoine Grall  Robbert van Hasselt

The event provided valuable inspiration, strengthened our network, and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in scaling up sustainable maritime solutions across North-West Europe. Check out our poster foto and one of the stories behind the W4S ⬇️

From prototype to production: wind power driving green shipping
What looks like a giant fin is in fact a wingsail prototype for greener shipping. In the Wind4Shipping (W4S) project, partners from four NWE regions are working on Wind Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP),  a technology that can reduce fossil fuel consumption by around 20%, and up to 40% for scaled-up rotors and wings.

By implementing four pilot projects to test and demonstrate wingsail production, W4S aims to upscale manufacturing and promote the commercial viability of this technology. By combining theory and practice, project partners are shaping a greener future for European shipping.
