Recently, Wind4Shipping and Winds4Change NL met online to explore potential collaboration, align expectations, and exchange insights on upcoming activities such as SAIL Sociëteit Amsterdam and the Europort Exhibition 2025. This dialogue represents an exciting step toward strengthening synergies within the Dutch maritime innovation ecosystem. Following this meeting, W4S Project Leader Robbert van Hasselt attended the W4C conference at Amsterdam SAIL and more broadly explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in the emerging Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP) market.
Online meeting between W4S and W4C were exploredsynergies and opportunities in Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP)
Last week, W4S attended one of the premier maritime events in Amsterdam – Amsterdam SAIL. As part of our project within Interreg North Sea program, we aim to strengthen collaboration in the emerging Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP) market.
Robbert van Hasselt, W4S project leader, represented our team at the Winds4Change seminar held at the Royal Rowing and Sailing Club De Hoop. The seminar convened a Dutch ecosystem of stakeholders, including investors, policymakers, naval architects, and educational partners.

During the event, Mrs. Hester van Buren, Alderman of the City of Amsterdam, opened the seminar. The discussions emphasized the potential of wind-powered shipping as a fast, economically viable, and sustainable option for deep-sea transport.
Following the seminar, W4S has begun early explorations to connect WASP ecosystems. Together with W4C, Ger Jager (Royal Rowing & Sailing Club De Hoop), Cosmo Wassenaar, and Enkhuizen Nautical College, we are joining forces to scale up the emerging market.
To capture this upcoming market, a strong Dutch value chain aligned with French, German, Belgian WASP ecosystems need to be built,” said Robbert van Hasselt, external project manager W4S.
